Capabilities

I can assist you in producing the most polished and professional-looking manuscript possible. That means more than just spell-checking your document, more than letting some piece of software make "automatic" grammar changes that are quite often incorrect. It means I look at your work with an experienced eye, reading it for content, context and correctness.

Rates

Level I editing - basic proofing, spelling, punctuation, "oops!" errors. Rate is one cent per word* ($0.01 per word).

Level II editing - includes Level I, plus is more substantive: usage, grammar. Rate is two cents per word* ($0.02 per word).

Level III editing - includes Level II, plus storyline and character development recommendations, and continuity (for fiction). Story flow, readability (nonfiction)**. Rate is three cents per word* ($0.03 per word).

* All word counts are based upon the word count function in Microsoft Word, when the document is received.

** "Fact-checking" for non-fiction work will incur a charge of $30 per hour, in addition to editing charges.

NOTE: Re-checks of edited work at author's request will incur a rate of $30 per hour.
