This year's anthology contains thirteen stories (yes, the lucky number!) from some truly talented tellers of tales. Here is the roster:

Helen Schwartz
S. M. Harding
Allan E. Ansorge

Foreword by noted toy and play expert, Dr. Stevanne Auerbach, also known as "Dr. Toy."

In case you didn't know, Wolfmont has, for the last two years, published anthologies of short crime fiction, with the theme of crimes around the winter holiday season. By the sale of those books, we have been able to donate a total of nearly $3,400 to the Toys for Tots Foundation.

Our goal this year is to raise at least $3,000 more for these kids.

One thing that's wonderful, is that we have stories not only of Christmas crime, but Chanukah, Kwanzaa and even Winter Solstice crimes! The talent of each author is matched only by his or her generosity in donating a story to such a worthy cause.

What others are saying...

"Thirteen talented authors donated stories for this year's anthology, including Tony Burton, who compiled and edited their work. Their stories range from gritty and serious to whimsical, puzzling or downright funny. Some have a historical setting, but others could happen this holiday season... in your town."

Reviewer, Valley News

"This is Burton's third Christmas anthology for the benefit of the Toys for Tots. If that alone doesn't entice you into buying the book, the well-written and entertaining stories should. The stories in DYING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND lifted my spirits and put me in a Christmas mood. It's a fun holiday read that I highly recommend."

—Victoria Kennedy
Reviewer, The Midwest Book Review

"There are two great reasons to stuff a lot of Christmas stockings with DYING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND. One, it's a top-notch anthology of thirteen winter holiday crime stories. Two, a portion of the proceeds from the sales will go to the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. That's a winning combo if I ever saw one!"

Bill Crider,
Anthony Award-winning author of the Sheriff Dan Rhodes mysteries
and many, many other books

"Each story is a tantalizing present waiting to be unwrapped. Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanzaa all get their due--as well as the Yule traditions of the ancient Scots. Faux Santas--including strip-joint waitresses in Santa beards--rub elbows with wise men from the east in the guise of armed desperadoes bearing gifts. Marley and Tym, complete with crutch, take on new roles. And, most amusingly, Santa’s reindeer provide names, starting with Helen Dasher, for an ad hoc team that conspires to give a holiday-spoiling charlatan his come-uppance."

Peggy Ehrhart
author of Sweet Man Is Gone

"Editor Tony Burton has done it again, amassed a wonderful collection of stories by a stellar set of authors about murder and mayhem during the winter holidays, including Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanzaa. Dying in a Winter Wonderland has something for every crime fiction addict with all the trimmings, from thieves disguised as Santa to strippers in elf costumes. Bodies appear, disappear, and reappear in sleighs, vans, and snowbanks, but the holiday spirit lives on in this wonderland of whodunnits."
